Since its creation in 1974, the Canadian company Bourgault Industries Ltd. has focused on the development and production of high-tech and reliable seeders and other agricultural machinery.
Bourgault is well-known for its innovative seeding technologies as well as for its Mid Row Bander® system, which allows to direct seed into heavy residue in no-till scenarios, while seed placing phosphate fertilizer and banding nutrients like nitrogen and sulfur mid row.
Different FMS™ configurations have working widths from 6 to 9.1 meters with various row spacing options of coulter or hoe openers and a 3-section seed/fertilizer tank with a total volume of 4800 or 7200 liters.
The FMS™ is a mid-range seeding system, tucked between the large-scale seeding systems and the smaller box seeders that successfully achieves the ultimate balance between productivity and ease of use.

- Models with a working width of 6 to 8 meters with a standard axle and without a rear hitch – less than 3 meters
- Models with an extended axle and a rear hitch, as well as units with a working width of 9.1 meters – 3.4 meters

- Models with a working width of 6 meters – 3.4 meters
- Models with a working width of 8 meters – 4 meters
- Models with a working width of 9 meters – 4.6 meters
Seeding section with coulter or hoe openers
- Openers of all FMS™ two-row coulter and three-row hoe configurations have ParaLink™ parallel arm design, which allows to keep a uniform seeding depth and maintain seedbed integrity
- The superior design of the heavy-duty 127 x 127 mm frame ensures reliable service through many seasons
- FMS™ units are equipped with high-strength drawbars that evenly transfer the traction load to the tractor
- FMS™ can be equipped with coulter openers (PLW™ or PLR™) either hoe openers (PLX™)
PLW™ – ParaLink Walking™ Coulter Opener
The ParaLink Walking™ Opener (PLW™) achieves precise seed placement while maintaining seedbed integrity. The walking action between the cleaner and gauge wheel, both of which set the seed depth, minimizes the effects of a rough surface or old seed rows on seeding depth. The PLW™ design splits the opener downforce: one third at the cleaner wheel and two thirds at the packer wheel, during typical operation. This reduces the vertical movement of the seed boot by approximately half, resulting in unprecedented seed depth consistency.
PLR™ – ParaLink Row™ Coulter Opener
The ParaLink Row™ Opener (PLR™) provides two very distinct advantages in today’s coulter drill market:
- Developed in conjunction with the Air Planter™ System, the PLR™ offers Producers the distinct advantage of seeding and planting with the same implement!
- The durability and ingenuity built into the PLR™ Opener makes it longer lasting and easier to set than the competition getting many seasons out of wearing components such as coulters or scraper boots.
PLX™ – ParaLink eXtreme™ Hoe Opener
The ParaLink eXtreme™ Opener (PLX™) provides a 1:1 contour ratio, the choice of Producers challenged with variable field topography. Essentially a rebranding of the XTC™ Opener, the PLX™ provides the same opener characteristics as it did with the 3320 ParaLink Hoe Drill™ Series.
Integrated tank for seeds and fertilizers
- The KNEX™ Integral Tank System allows all three main tanks to meter individually, or, tanks can be combined to meter as one by simply removing the interconnecting tank door. Both the 848 and 872 models allow product to be diverted from compartment 2 into compartment 3 or 1.
- The PDM Pro™ Metering Auger provides a high degree of metering accuracy and gentle seed handling, while minimizing the issue of product sticking when dealing with treated products.
- The Hydraulic Drive Motors provide near-instant rate changes while requiring minimal hydraulic flow.
- An on-tank control box allows you to charge the PDM Pro™ Metering Auger prior to the calibration process and achieve the most accurate rate while reducing steps to-and-from the tractor cab.
- Special augers are available for very low rates and fine seed, as well as very high rate, course products.
