During our visit to the Czech Republic, we had the opportunity to get acquainted with the Markovy farm, which was recognized as the Farm of the Year in the Czech Republic this year. Our meeting with Czech farmers took place on this unique farm, and the couple Jiří and Marcela Marková gave us a tour, sharing their experience and history.

The Markovykh farm is located in the Znoymo region and covers 450 hectares of land, where the principles of regenerative agriculture are actively implemented.

Their approach is truly inspiring:
– Diverse crop rotation: 20 main crops are grown, including their varieties.
– Cover crops: between the main cash crops, a mixture of cover crops is sown to help maintain soil health.
– Innovation and sustainability: the farm uses modern technologies for cleaning and drying crops, and also produces natural oils and poppyseed delicacies.

This wide variety of crops also gives them economic stability. They take fewer risks, because if something happens to one crop, they can rely on the others. In addition, they know how to grow quality products, clean them well, pack them and bring them to high standards.

All crops are bagged, mixed, and sold as poultry mixes, and most importantly, for carrier pigeons. According to the Markovićs, their products are known for their high quality, and this is due to regenerative farming.

In addition, they produce 7 types of oil by cold pressing, which are bottled.

Another important aspect is the modern approach to product sales. To sell to the end consumer at a higher price, they actively use social media marketing. This includes both organic promotion and feedback from satisfied customers, as well as targeted advertising opportunities.
Thanks to the Markov family for their warm welcome and inspiration!
